UMA SAN MANUEL
UMA San Manuel is a certified Voluntary Conservation Area within the Río Lagartos Biosphere Reserve in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. Dedicated to protecting 160 hectares of forest and wetlands, this project is led by native locals who have lived on the range for generations, preserving and sharing their deep connection to the land. Through ecotourism experiences, they promote environmental awareness and conservation while offering visitors a unique perspective on the region’s biodiversity.
Visitors can explore four distinct ecosystems in the area - medium-deciduous forest, lowland floodplain forest, mangroves, and savannas - offering a rare glimpse into the region’s biodiversity.
Nature lovers and adventurers can enjoy activities such as birdwatching, photography tours, hiking, and kayaking, or simply unwind in the jungle’s peaceful surroundings. With its commitment to preserving habitats and species like the jaguar, UMA San Manuel provides a meaningful way to connect with nature.
